PA Supreme Court Denies Newman's Latest Appeal

LOCK HAVEN -  Earlier today, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court shot down the latest effort of Joseph Newman, Jr., to overturn his convictions for 7 crimes in connection with a shooting that occurred in August of 2016 in Mill Hall.  In an Order issued today by the highest court in the Commonwealth, the court refused to hear Newman's petition for allowance of appeal.  The ruling effectively exhausts Newman's appellate options to seek a new trial at the state level.  Newman continues to serve a 14.5 to 29 year sentence in state prison.

Newman's appeal was denied by the Pa. Superior Court in June of this year.  For more on that story: https://clinton.crimewatchpa.com/da/133000/post/superior-court-shoots-down-newmans-latest-request-new-trial?fbclid=IwAR1FOfdkOSEKeIAQwzKk1Z60dhuAqG7fW4mm0bFICGBK4cvUeJkq56KCA_k
