NEWS RELEASE: February 25, 2023
- Harassment – On 2/13/23 police received a report of harassment from a residence on Pocahontas Trail, Wayne Twp. The victim reported receiving harassing phone calls and text messages.
- Hit and Run – On 2/13/23 at approximately 5:30pm police received a report from W. Sylvan Avenue, Avis Boro in regards to a silver truck that hit a cat and continued on. Anyone with any information is requested to contact the police dept.
- PFA Violation – On 2/13/23 at approximately 7:30pm police responded to a Clinton Street address in Avis Boro for a reported PFA violation. Officers charged Kiana Smith of Lock Haven with violating a protection order.
- Criminal Mischief – 2/14/23 the property owner at 3093 Woodward Avenue reported damage to the bus shelter used by school students located at the entrance to the trailer park. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the department.
- Fire – 2/15/23 at 11:49am police and fire responded to the 1100 block of Fifth Avenue in Pine Creek Township for a brush fire spreading to nearby structures.
- Harassment – 2/15/23 at 2:39pm a resident from the 100 block of West Central Avenue in Avis Boro reported their neighbor being intoxicated and harassing the caller. The situation was resolved with no further incident.
- Harassment – On 2/15/23 at 9:20pm a motorist called and reported he was traveling on the Island Road near the McElhattan Drive bridge when two males on bicycles shined a strobe light into the driver’s windshield and yelled harassing statements. The individuals were located and the incident was resolved.
- Motor Vehicle Accident – On 2/22/23 police responded to several vehicle accidents on SR 220 in Pine Creek Township and a single vehicle accident on Pine Mtn. Road in Wayne Twp. as a result of the wintry weather mixture. No injuries were reported in any of the accidents.
- Animal Complaint – Police received multiple calls from residents on Clinton Street in Avis Boro in regards to a neighbor’s dog running loose and bit a neighbor. The incident is pending charges.
- Fraud – On 2/24/23 a Avis Boro resident reported to police that she was notified by her bank of someone attempting to gain access to her account using her social security number. Residents are reminded to periodically check their accounts for suspicious activity and to never release any personal information over the phone on a call they didn’t initiate.
Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
