On March 9th, 2024, The Pine Creek Twp. Police received a report of a catalytic converter theft from the owner of a 2003 Honda Odyssey. Surveillance cameras in Avis Borough were reviewed and at approximately 0501 AM, a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed is observed traveling east on Central Avenue. The vehicle turned down a side street and a short time later is observed again on cameras around the ball field. The vehicle was last observed traveling towards East Park Street where the theft in Avis Borough occurred. At approximately 0520 the vehicle is observed on East Central Avenue heading out of Clinton County towards Lycoming County at a high rate of speed. Thefts were reported in Jersey Shore at approximately 0535 AM. Lock Haven City had reports of thefts around 0420 AM and witnesses described 3 individuals and a silver car.
On March 12th, 2024, the owner of European Imports Car Dealership, 2232 Woodward Ave, Pine Creek Twp. reported that he discovered that morning the catalytic converters had been cut off three Volkswagen vehicles in his lot, specifically a 2017 VW Jetta TDI, a 2012 VW Jetta TDI, and a 2013 VW Passat SE. Several short video clips show the suspects and the silver vehicle in the lot at 0500 AM on March 9, 2024. The sound of the exhaust from the vehicle in the videos matched the one heard during the Jersey Shore theft.
The suspects are not believed to be from the local area. The vehicle they were operating appears to be a 2016-2021 Mercedes-Benz C-43, with an aftermarket exhaust, and a rare paint color called "designo-Selenite-Grey-magno". The described vehicle and suspects have been observed in videos across the state involved in thefts of catalytic converters.
