On August 6, 2025, at approximately 9:01 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of Bellefonte Avenue for the report of a disorderly vehicle. The caller of the incident reported that a red Ford F-150 was traveling on Route 150 in that area and had swerved multiple times, almost crashing head-on into several vehicles. The vehicle had been located and officers observed the vehicle driving erratically and without headlights illuminated. A traffic stop was conducted, where emergency lighting and sirens were activated. The vehicle continued driving on East Church Street, onto Paul Mack Boulevard, and continued onto the East Walnut Street exit. The vehicle was approached by a second patrol unit, with emergency lighting and sirens activated, and the truck continued on the roadway, without stopping. Officers were able to box the vehicle in, which prompted the operator to stop the vehicle.
The driver, identified as James L. Bryant, was asked if he was having a medical emergency, to which Bryant answered that he was not. Through investigation, the officers noted indicators of alcohol impairment. Bryant was subsequently charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance (M), Reckless Driving (S), Driving on Right Side of Roadway (S), Periods For Requiring Lighted Lamps (S), and Duty of Driver on Approach of Emergency Vehicle (S).
